Short answer
Your app already has the users. The hard part is getting them back on day 2, day 7 and day 30. A mobile marketing platform is the software that decides who gets which push, in-app message or text, and when. Pick the wrong one and you either pay enterprise prices to send simple pushes, or you outgrow a push tool the moment someone asks for a cross-channel journey.
This post is about engaging users you already have. Measuring which ad campaigns brought them in is a different job handled by mobile measurement partners, which we cover in our roundup of mobile attribution tools. If you only need to send notifications, our list of push notification services is the narrower guide.
Each platform had to support mobile push and in-app messaging through its own SDK, offer at least one more channel, include segmentation and multi-step journeys, and be sold to new customers in October 2026. We read each plan name, billing basis and published price on the vendor's pricing page and product pages in October 2026. Where a vendor quotes through sales, we say so instead of guessing. We did not run campaigns on these platforms, and the order below is not a ranking of quality.
| Platform | Best for | Mobile channels | Pricing (as of October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Braze | Large consumer brands running many channels | Push, in-app, banners, content cards, SMS/MMS/RCS, WhatsApp | Quoted; scales with MAU plus Action Credits |
| Airship | Mobile-first brands, including mobile wallet programs | Push, in-app, SMS/RCS/MMS, mobile wallet, email | AXP quoted; Essentials is self-service |
| OneSignal | Teams starting out or watching budget | Push, in-app, Live Activities, SMS, RCS, email | Free; Growth from $19/mo plus usage |
| CleverTap | Apps that want engagement and product analytics together | Push, in-app, app inbox, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, email | Core from $85/mo for up to 5,000 MAU |
| MoEngage | Consumer brands with app and web audiences | Push, in-app, content cards, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, email | Growth and Enterprise quoted, sized by MTUs |
| Insider One | Retail-style programs across app, web and WhatsApp | App push and in-app, InStory, SMS and RCS, WhatsApp | Not published; demo |
| Pushwoosh | Push-heavy apps that want usage pricing | Push, in-app, wallet passes, SMS, WhatsApp, email | Free to 1,000 MAU; $13 per 1,000 MAU |
| Customer.io | Product teams where email matters as much as push | Push, in-app, SMS, WhatsApp, LINE | Essentials from $100/mo, billed monthly |
Braze runs push, in-app messages, banners, content cards, email, SMS, MMS, RCS, WhatsApp, KakaoTalk and LINE from one platform, with Canvases for journeys, locations and geofences, feature flags and frequency capping. Its AI tools, including BrazeAI Operator and BrazeAI Agent Console, are listed as included in every tier. It fits brands that have a team to run several channels at once.
Pricing (as of October 2026): four Platform Editions (Braze Go, Select, Pro and Enterprise). A contract combines an edition, monthly active users and profiles, Action Credits that pay for messaging and some AI features, and services. Prices come through sales, and Braze also offers a free trial. Strengths: channel breadth and AI included at every tier. Limits: no public prices, and the contract has several moving parts to model before you sign.
The Airship Experience Platform (AXP) covers email, SMS, RCS, MMS, push, web notifications, mobile wallet, app and web experiences, with journey orchestration, segmentation, testing and AI agents. Its Scenes feature builds multi-screen in-app experiences without code, and Airship also lists app store optimization among its acquisition tools.
Pricing (as of October 2026): AXP is quoted ("get a quote"). Airship Essentials is a self-service, no-code plan for app and web experiences; its price is not shown on the pricing page. Airship's billing documentation defines audience units such as monthly active users, monthly unique visitors and contacts, and bills Scenes (a Native App Experiences add-on for AXP contracts) by impressions. Strengths: mobile wallet and app experiences in the same tool as messaging. Limits: you need a sales call to compare costs. If you are weighing a move away from it, our Airship alternatives guide goes deeper.
OneSignal covers mobile push, web push, in-app messages, Live Activities, email, SMS and RCS, with a visual journey builder, segments, A/B tests and an AI agent. Free and Growth are self-service plans, so a team can start without a sales call.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Free at $0 a month, with unlimited mobile push for apps with up to 1,000 monthly active users and 10,000 email sends a month. Growth starts at $19 a month, month-to-month, plus $0.012 per mobile monthly active user and $0.004 per web push subscriber; in-app messages come with mobile push. Professional and Enterprise are annual and custom. SMS and RCS pricing goes through sales. Strengths: the clearest published pricing here. Limits: Free has 3 active journeys and Growth 5, so larger programs end up on an annual plan.
CleverTap pairs push, in-app messages, app inbox, web push, email, SMS, WhatsApp and RCS with product analytics such as funnels, cohorts, session analytics and uninstall tracking. Its CleverAI features range from assisted orchestration on Core to agentic orchestration on Ultimate.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Core starts at $85 a month for up to 5,000 MAU, rising by MAU band (the page lists $1,300 a month at 100,000 MAU), with taxes and add-ons extra and billing starting after a 30-day trial. Pro and Ultimate are sold through a demo. Strengths: analytics and messaging in one place. Limits: WhatsApp and Email Direct are add-ons on every plan, and RCS is available only on Pro and Ultimate, as an add-on. Our CleverTap alternatives post covers why teams switch.
MoEngage lists email, push, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, paid media audiences, in-app messages, on-site messages and content cards, plus web and app personalization and real-time transactional alerts. Its Growth plan covers behavioral personalization and a visual journey editor; Enterprise adds catalog-based recommendations, local data servers, IP whitelisting and quarterly business reviews.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Growth and Enterprise through "Let's Talk", sized by Monthly Tracked Users (MTUs). Strengths: wide channel list for apps that also run a website. Limits: no published prices.
Insider now operates as Insider One (useinsider.com redirects to insiderone.com). Its channels include app push and in-app experiences, InStory, web push, email, SMS and RCS, WhatsApp, site search and conversational CX, with journey orchestration, personalization and its Agent One AI layer.
Pricing (as of October 2026): not published; the site routes buyers to a demo. Strengths: app and website personalization in the same suite. Limits: more platform than an app-only team may need. Our Insider alternatives post compares options.
Pushwoosh covers mobile push, in-app messages, web push, email, SMS, WhatsApp and wallet passes, with a journey builder, segmentation, A/B testing and an AI copilot called ManyMoneyAI. It states that every feature is available on every plan.
Pricing (as of October 2026): free while a project stays within 1,000 MAU. Above that, Omnichannel is $13 per 1,000 MAU, Email only is $5 per 1,000 monthly unique recipients, and a Push only plan is $7 per 1,000 MAU as a limited offer until December 31. Each MAU includes 20 email sends a month; extra sends are $1.50 per 1,000. Strengths: simple pricing that scales with the audience. Limits: WhatsApp, SMS and other messenger channels also carry third-party fees (for WhatsApp, Meta bills its own message charges) on top of the Pushwoosh plan.
Customer.io includes unlimited push and in-app messages on every plan, mobile SDKs, SMS, WhatsApp and LINE, alongside email, a visual workflow builder and an AI agent in beta. It fits product teams whose lifecycle program runs on events from both the app and the web.
Pricing (as of October 2026): Essentials starts at $100 a month, billed monthly, with 5,000 profiles and 1 million emails a month. Premium starts at $1,000 a month, billed yearly; Enterprise is quoted. SMS volume is custom-priced. A startup program offers 12 months free to companies that raised under $10M and qualify. Strengths: push and in-app are not metered. Limits: plans are sized by profiles, so a large free-user base raises the bill.
Start with your audience size and who will run the program. Under a few thousand monthly users and no dedicated lifecycle marketer? OneSignal or Pushwoosh will cover push and in-app at a known price, and our guide to SMS marketing platforms helps if texting becomes a channel in its own right.
If you want product analytics in the same tool, shortlist CleverTap and MoEngage. If your brand runs many channels across app, web and stores, get quotes from Braze, Airship and Insider One, and ask each for the billing unit (MAU, MTU, credits or impressions) in writing. If email drives as much as push, Customer.io keeps both on one profile. Whichever you pick, our list of journey orchestration tools shows what good multi-step flows look like before you build them.
What is a mobile marketing platform?
A mobile marketing platform sends and coordinates the messages app users receive: push notifications, in-app messages, SMS and often email, triggered by what each user does in the app. Most add segmentation, journey building and reporting on top of an SDK installed in your app.
Which mobile marketing platforms publish their prices?
As of October 2026, OneSignal (Growth from $19 a month), CleverTap (Core from $85 a month for up to 5,000 MAU), Pushwoosh ($13 per 1,000 MAU for Omnichannel) and Customer.io (Essentials from $100 a month) publish entry prices. Braze, Airship, MoEngage and Insider One quote prices through sales.
Is there a free mobile marketing platform?
OneSignal has a free plan with all channels and unlimited mobile push for apps with up to 1,000 monthly active users. Pushwoosh is free while a project stays within 1,000 MAU. Both charge as the audience grows, and SMS sends are charged separately on both.
How are mobile marketing platforms priced?
Most price on audience size. Braze uses monthly active users, CleverTap uses monthly active users or data points depending on the contract, MoEngage uses monthly tracked users, Pushwoosh charges per 1,000 MAU, OneSignal charges per mobile MAU and per web push subscriber, and Customer.io prices on profiles. SMS and WhatsApp usually cost extra per message.
